SAP will force "clouds" to be configured automatically

At the Tech Ed conference in Las Vegas SAP promised to present shortly new solutions which will allow clients to build "private clouds" more effectively. Now the vendor works on the application for "management of an IT landscape" which will allow to manage and monitor use of a SAP-applications in private cloud.

More than 40 clients and partners work on the platform together with SAP. SAP stated that it will provide "a uniform picture and tools for management of the virtualized infrastructure and layer of SAP applications". For example, one of clients, cooperation with whom pushed SAP to changes, is Columbia Sportswear Company using applications of vendor in "a private cloud" with the purpose to increase their flexibility and to reduce the cost of ownership of systems.

Also the corporation stated that it works on support of architecture for "private clouds" which was already created by IBM and Dell. Let's remind that before SAP already announced support of the Vblock systems developed by EMC, VMware and Cisco Systems.

In a sense SAP just had no other choice except how to support the general movement towards the private cloud model. Internally the research among clients of the company showed that 70% from them "actively estimate and try on possibilities of use of virtualization and "cloud" platforms", said in the official statement of SAP.

In it it is also said that possibilities of the new "cloud" platform will be directed first of all to automation of those control functions by applications in "cloud" which at the moment are often made in the manual mode. For example, adding of new users and services and selection of the corresponding infrastructure for them concern them, the analyst of RedmonkMichael Coté explained.

"For example, it will be relevant for retailers. When the retail company opens new shop, in different subsystems of SAP it will be required to create a working space for numerous new employees and also to configure monitoring of business processes of new outlet. In the ideal world of "cloud" all this will be made completely automatically", - the expert noted.

SAP also said that the solution will be integrated with already existing management system for frameworks and also Solution Manager SAP application. The solution will be available in the fourth quarter 2011.
