2023: Repelling DDoS attacks
Provider cloudy EdgeÖåíòð On September 6, 2023, the decisions announced the provision of Russian a competitor Google Play with infrastructure that made it possible to reflect DDoS-attacks hacktivists and ensure uninterrupted operation throughout applications. Russia Thanks to Edge services, the EdgeÖå NashStore íòð coped with waves for 9 months without cyber attacks visible consequences for users.
Cyber attacks on the Russian app store began in May 2022, at the time of launch. Then the company did not yet use the services of the EdgeÖåíòð, and hackers for a short time managed to disable the application. At the same time, the attacks went in several directions at once. Several billion malicious requests came to the NashStore download page. In parallel, hacktivists tried to hack into elements of the server architecture and sent spam attacks to the official mail of the service.
The attack was organized by the so-called IT Army of Ukraine. EdgeÖåíòð saved NashStore from hacktivists. Experts in just a few hours connected and configured protection against DDoS attacks, which blocked all malicious requests, as well as anti-bots and WAF - tools that stopped the activity of bots and protected the resource from hacks. Thus, the attack was repelled.
Further, in addition to protection, EdgeÖåíòð provided NashStore with a content delivery network (CDN), a distributed network of caching servers that speeds up data returns to end users and increases system resiliency.
When working with mobile applications, especially those downloaded by hundreds of thousands of users across the country, it is critical to have an effective CDN. EdgeCDN not only provides fast content delivery, but is also capable of processing large files, which plays a key role in the distribution of our applications, "said Arseny Shcheltsin, CEO of Digital Platforms LLC. |
In addition, some of the internal services were hosted in the EdgeÖåíòð cloud.
Cloud infrastructure provides flexibility and easy scalability, and significantly reduces costs compared to your own resources. Placing services in the cloud allowed NashStore to more efficiently solve problems related to storage, verification, moderation and distribution of applications, - said Mikhail Shurygin, CEO of EdgeÖåíòð. |
After connecting and configuring Edge services, the Attack EdgeÖåíòð did not stop. Hacktivists continued to try to "put" NashStore for 9 months. But thanks to a well-organized infrastructure and defense, none of these attacks have achieved their goals. It is important to note that it was possible to ensure the stable operation of the service not only for users from Russia, but also for customers from other countries, without resorting to restrictions or closing services.
We at EdgeÖåíòð take a comprehensive approach to solving our customers' problems. It is important for us that the client can close all his technical needs using our services. This is exactly what happened with NashStore. We provided the service with a comprehensive, fault-tolerant infrastructure that consistently withstood the influx of attacks, - said Mikhail Shurygin. |
