1894: Shamail Haji Malika Makhmidova
From the text included in the general calligraphic pattern of inscriptions, it follows that this shamail was printed in 1894 in the printing house of Vyacheslav (one of the private Kazan printing houses -?) Commissioned by Haji Malik Makhmidov. The name "Malik Makhmidov" is also written in Russian on the back of the sheet.
The content of shamail - "bina Islam" ("basis of Islam") - is indicated by an inscription in the center at the top of the sheet. Symmetrically, in mirror reflection, the word "Gali" ("Great," "Supreme") was reproduced in large Arabic script in the handwriting "Naskh." In five decorative chapters, five components of the Muslim cult are named (read from left to right):
- "bina" (the basis of faith),
- "namaz" (duties of the believer, obligatory prayers),
- "uraza" (post),
- "rikkiat" (heads of the Quran),
- "haji" (pilgrimage to Mecca).
The release of shamail was allowed by censorship in 1896.
