Start using IT companies

IT companies began using the first Russian-language clinical data repository SibMed Data Clinical Repository. It was developed by the Siberian State Medical University (SibGMU), the university said at the end of November 2023.

The SibGMU repository is a whole ecosystem for storing and quickly accessing anonymized medical data. The project allows solving problems in the work of scientific and scientific-practical teams related to the reliability and complexity of the structure of medical data, as well as the need to ensure their anonymity. Large Russian technology companies have already begun to use the repository, "said Ivan Tolmachev, head of the Bionic Digital Platforms strategic project at SibGMU.

IT companies have begun using the first Russian-language clinical data repository

Companies can use the repository to develop and test medical algorithms as well as healthcare and business products.

The SibMed Data Clinical Repository includes databases of the outpatient and inpatient services of the multidisciplinary clinics of SibMMU and anonymized medical information. The data are depersonified in accordance with the requirements of federal legislation and contain information of a textual and numerical nature, including data on laboratory and instrumental studies, treatment, medical images.

By the end of November 2023, the platform contains a large sample of data, given that more than 100 thousand patients apply to the clinics of the Siberian Medical University annually, the university noted. The SibGMU repository contains about 450 thousand data sets (databases of scientific and clinical research) that will help in creating products for business and medicine, scientific research, analytics of therapeutic and diagnostic methods, and increasing the manufacturability of the industry.^[1]

On September 19, 2023, Siberian State Medical University (SibGMU) announced the opening of the world's first Russian-language clinical data repository. The project was named SibMed Data Clinical Repository.

It is a digital platform for storing and quickly accessing information of a medical nature. The SibGMU repository is the first Russian-language repository of impersonal patient data. With the service, you can develop and test medical algorithms, as well as create unique products for healthcare and business.

SibMed Data Clinical Repository

The SibMed Clinical Data Repository project also includes an educational program aimed at building competencies for working with structured and unstructured biomedical data to solve research and technological problems. The repository combines the bases of the outpatient and inpatient services of the multidisciplinary clinics of SibGMU, including anonymized medical information.

The data are depersonified in accordance with the requirements of federal legislation and contain information of a textual and numerical nature, including information on laboratory and instrumental studies, treatment and medical images. The platform contains a large sample: more than 100,000 patients apply to the clinics of the Siberian Medical University for help every year. Thus, the database is constantly updated.

The lack of the required amount of clinical data is one of the key barriers to the introduction of IT technologies into healthcare. The SibGMU repository contains about 450 thousand data sets (databases of scientific and clinical research) that will help in creating products for business and medicine, scientific research, analytics of therapeutic and diagnostic methods, and increasing the manufacturability of the industry, the institution said.[2]
