2023: Obtaining a patent

K-Sky, a Skolkovo resident, has patented a method for early diagnosis of chronic diseases based on cluster analysis of big data using artificial intelligence. Skolkovo reported this on September 20, 2023.

The solution involves collecting depersonified data from an electronic medical record, extracting medical and social signs about the patient's health, as well as risk factors through NLP technologies. Then there is the division of the extracted features into groups, dividing them into clusters by diagnosed diseases, and ultimately assessing the risk of occurrence or development of complications of chronic diseases.

During the work with the K-Sky company, patent attorneys of the Skolkovo CIS prepared more than 10 patent applications. These include patent applications for inventions, industrial designs, as well as international PCT applications and applications for the Hague Industrial Design Registration System. 6 applications for registration of source code in Russia and the USA were also submitted. As of September 2023, work is underway to submit applications in foreign countries. Thanks to the competencies of the patent attorneys of the Skolkovo CIS, K-Sky received 4 patents in the Russian Federation and one patent abroad, valid in the countries as part of the Eurasian Patent Convention. said Elena Voronina, Head of Information Technologies of Patent Practice at the Skolkovo CIS, Patent Attorney of the Russian Federation.

The data processing method will be used by the company to develop a medical decision support system (SPDMS), to which the developers plan to add several algorithms to identify diseases at an early stage and predict their occurrence.

To do this, the company actively invests time and money in research, as a result of which it is sometimes possible to offer truly innovative approaches and promising data processing algorithms. It is critically important for us to ensure the protection of created intellectual property - this is one of the strategic tasks that we implement constantly. As of September 2023, K-Sky has received more than 30 documents on the registration of intellectual activity, including 4 patents, two of which are for inventions in the field of analysis of medical data by artificial intelligence methods.
