PTC Lightning

On October 25, Moscow. The PTC company announces the new product "Lightning" – new vision and a way of development of a mechanical CAD within the next 20 years. The new solution allows to integrate different paradigms of modeling which were incompatible earlier: 2D modeling, direct 3D modeling and parametrical 3D modeling.

One of daily problems of product development process – to integrate a great number of diverse employees with different roles, from the staff of marketing department and project managers to engineers, designers and technologists where everyone imposes the unique requirements to the system of design. These requirements not always belong to the list of technical capabilities of systems, and often appeal to the fundamental principles of modeling and interaction of users. The companies using a CAD try to standardize work on the basis of one system or a paradigm, facilitating, thus, interaction of project participants. But as a result of a compromise solution users often receive the mass of additional, more difficult tools to which they it are not necessary at all.

The Lightning project liquidates need to select a paradigm of design and proposes a set of solutions on a single platform which will give to each user a choice opportunity, what solution and a way of modeling to use in each case. The RTS company offers the market new more convenient tool which will allow the enterprises quicker and easier to develop and make the innovation products. Will allow to become more competitive in global market to each enterprise in particular and the Russian industry in general.

The Lightning project is called:

• solve big problems of mechanical systems of automated design, including convenience of using, compatibility and management of assemblies;
• offer a new way of development of the systems of design on the basis of unique solutions of RTS company;
• offer the scalable, compatible, open set of applications easy in use for design;
• propose the correct solution in due time for each participant of design process;
• offer even more opportunities to the existing clients who already

use solutions of RTS company (Pro/ENGINEER®, CoCreate®, ProductView®, Windchill®, etc.).

The presentation of the Lightning project will take place on October 28, 2010 from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. and will be virtually performed. Without departing from the monitors, participants at the event will be able to become eyewitnesses of how the PTC company will provide strategy which will change the market of automated design and also to learn the final name of a product, to see how it will look, to hear technical details.
