Enflame was formed in 2018, and its founder and CEO is Zhao Lidong. He has extensive experience in the computer chip industry, having previously held senior positions at the Chinese state semiconductor conglomerate Tsinghua Unigroup Ltd. Another Enflame co-founder, Zhang Yalin, once headed AMD's Shanghai research division.
Enflame is developing specialized cloud AI chips for deep learning. Such solutions are applied in various fields, including the educational sphere, smart cities, etc.
History
2023: Raising $279 million in investments
At the end of September 2023, it became known that the Chinese company Enflame Technology Co., which designs solutions for artificial intelligence platforms, held a Series D funding round, during which 2 billion yen was received for development (approximately $278.7 million at the exchange rate as of October 2, 2023).
The Series D support program was spearheaded by the Shanghai International Group Co., which is overseen by the government asset regulatory body in Shanghai Municipality. Tencent Holdings, SummitView Capital, YTI Capital, Hundred Capital, Redpoint China Ventures and GF Qianhe Investment are also taking part in this funding round. Lidoon said the money raised would allow the company to "build more competitive AI chips" through increased collaboration with industry leaders.[1]
2021: Raising $250.83 million in investments
In January 2021, Enflame held a funding round in the amount of ¥1,8 billion (about $250.83 million). The funds were provided by Primavera Capital Group, CITIC Private Equity and CICC Capital. In June 2022, an expanded Series C investment round was held, headed by the Chinese Investment Fund for the Integrated Circuits II Industry.
