Russia In launched the world's first breathing simulator using virtual reality (). VR The complex is recovering lungs from ARVI and coronavirus () COVID-19 infection, reported in early October 2023 in, Volgograd State Technical University (VolgaSTU) which is one of the developers of the new technology. The company "," the Devirta developer of medical IT solutions, also took part in the creation of the product.

The simulator works as follows: the patient puts on virtual reality glasses (VR glasses) and performs breathing exercises. The sensors record breathing parameters, as well as the course of rehabilitation. It is noted that such training allows not only to increase the potential of the lungs, but also to strengthen the entire body. The developers plan to supply a VR simulator to exercise therapy rooms, medical and educational institutions.

The first breathing VR simulator was launched in Russia

By the beginning of October 2023, the simulator began to be used in pilot mode in the medical centers of Volgograd. It is noted that the presence of a specialist near the patient during training is not a prerequisite, since the simulator itself controls the process. At the same time, not only adults, but also children aged five and over can use the simulator, the developers say.

The complex received a registration certificate. Now research has begun, testing - research work is being carried out in the medical centers of Volgograd. At the moment, we are thinking over how to make the product massive, the task is worth it, - Alexander Zubkov, technical project manager, teacher at Volgograd State Technical University (Volgograd State Technical University), told TASS, adding that there are no analogues of such a VR lung simulator in the world by the beginning of October 2023.[1]
