Cisco announced in October, 2010 availability of a new economic line card of high density of uBR-MC3GX60V (3G60) of Broadband Processing Engine to the flagman Cisco uBR10012 Universal Broadband Router router and the leading CMTS platform to cable television – the systems of termination of Cable Modem Termination System modems. Well scalable line card 3G60 became an important component of the complete solution Cisco DOCSIS® 3.0. It perfectly is suitable for support IP видеоуслуг, accelerates transition to all-IP networks and simplifies content delivery on television receivers, personal computers and mobile devices.
Cisco tests a new line card 3G60 together with a number of large world operators, such as Comcast and Cox Communications. Using this new technology operators of cable television can increase performance by 10 times, having spent for it is 10 times less than means in comparison with existing solutions of DOCSIS 2.0. The line card 3G60 developed as building block solution of CMTS will help operators to use universal modulation of QAM, to connect more channels to one port, to cut down expenses and to increase environmental friendliness of all services.
The new line card of Cisco uBR-MC3GX60V Broadband Processing Engine supports on each module 72 entering and 60 outgoing channels with complete functionality of DOCSIS 3.0 that allows to expand the general bandwidth and to reduce load of network, having reduced traffic volume.
The entering and outgoing channels on a line card 3G60 are activated using the software. At the same time the user who installed the card pays only for the used channels.
In comparison with the solution Cisco DOCSIS 2.0 where the line card of uBR-MC5X20H is used, the capacity of the entering channels in a new line card is increased by 10 times, and the capacity of outgoing channels - three times.
Using line cards 3G60 one the device of uBR10012 can support up to 576 entering and 480 outgoing channels on one chassis. It is the highest capacity and density of the CMTS systems in the industry.
The line card 3G60 allows to integrate in one flow up to 24 entering DOCSIS 3.0 channels that gives the chance to bring closer flow rate to 1.0 gigabit per second.
The uBR10012 device with line cards 3G60 supports and scales a full range of the DOCSIS 3.0 functions, including support of IPv6 protocol and the advanced functions, such as dynamic redistribution of bandwidth. Operators of cable television can be sure: the solutions CMTS purchased today will support the powerful video services based on IP technologies and will allow to pass to all-IP networks in the near future.
