Akado completed the project of upgrade of DOCSIS network

Akado Ltd announces project completion of complex upgrade of DOCSIS network in Moscow. The program of upgrade affected 35 districts of Moscow. Significant quality improvement of communication for all subscribers of AKADO on service broadband access (broadband Internet access), i.e. about 600 thousand households and also increase in total network transmission capacity of access to more than 40% became result of upgrade."

The program of complex upgrade started in AKADO network at the beginning of 2009 and was carried out step by step in all areas of presence of the operator in Moscow. The project provided upgrade of both the house networks purchased in 2006-2008, and networks built by the company where Internet access is provided on DOCSIS technology. Quality improvement and reliability of services of Internet access due to installation of new telecommunication equipment and segmentation of network which provided uniform distribution of loading on nodes of network became the main objectives of the project.

Investments of AKADO into this project of upgrade made about 4 million US dollars.

Taking into account the upgrade of the Ethernet nodes of networks executed in the spring of the current year, the general capacity of nodes on a joint with the trunk makes 120-150 Gbps. According to forecasts, by the end of 2010 external traffic of Akado network will reach 80 Gbps. Let's remind that in 2009 AKADO carried out upgrade of Ethernet-network segment which provided service more than 90 thousand subscribers in 19 districts of Moscow.

Successful program implementation of complex upgrade of AKADO network in addition to obvious advantages, gives to the operator an opportunity of further transition to the DOCSIS 3.0 standard, the latest version of the international standard of data transmission to the subscriber on network of cable television (about use of the coaxial cable). Application of the DOCSIS 3.0 standard allows to provide data transmission at a speed up to 400 Mbps to the subscriber.

In the future it is technology c will allow to provide services of Internet access at speeds up to 400 Mbps and a reverse channel to 200 Mbit /", - the Managing director of Akado Ltd Lobanov Denis comments.
