2023: Distribution begins

VTB from October 9, 2023 began issuing payment stickers to retail customers, which have become an alternative to the contactless payment service using smartphones. Stickers can be obtained at the bank's office or ordered with delivery by courier. It is planned that by the end of 2023 about 300 thousand bank customers will use them.

The payment sticker is an analogue of a plastic card in a reduced format. It works using NFC technology to transfer payment information from a sticker to a terminal, which allows you to pay with a smartphone in one touch, as when using Pay services. The part of the sticker glued to the device does not contain either a number, or a validity period, or a CVC code, which makes its use as safe as possible. The sticker is as reliably protected as a regular card: you can set a PIN code on it, as well as transaction limits, and in case of loss, quickly block it.

VTB sticker can be linked both to the main account to which cards have already been issued, and to a separate one, which is convenient for customers. This service allows you not only to pay for purchases contactlessly, but also to withdraw cash from devices that support NFC technology. Sticker service is free for everyone, regardless of the category of service package. Limits on payments and transfers are similar to the conditions for bank cards, but if desired, the client can change them. Also with a sticker, all the advantages of a VTB card are available.

According to our assessment, VTB stickers will primarily be useful to owners of smartphones on iOS, who, as of October 2023, do not have the opportunity to use Pay services on their devices. Based on customer requests and demand in the market, we expect about 300 thousand people to use the product by the end of 2023. I want to note that in general, customers with a sticker are more transactional activity than holders of ordinary cards, and note the convenience of its use. The payment sticker can be pasted on a smartphone or phone case. You can pay them one touch wherever there is a terminal, "said Rostislav Yanykin, director of VTB's transactional retail business department.
