2023: iFellow QA announcement

iFellow is preparing to release the analytical product iFellow QA. It will allow midsize businesses working with IT contractors to manage the quality of development in projects. The product MVP release is scheduled for early October. The developer announced this on October 9, 2023.

Customers for whom development of IT solutions is not a core business, usually involve contractors in the work on projects, or form small internal IT departments. Development processes may not yet be debugged for various reasons - specialized professional tools for software development and analysis of results quality are not used, mature processes are not quickly formed. And acceptance of the results of IT projects also occurs in terms of achieving metrics and obligations.

The iFellow product, developed as part of a residency at the MSU Technopark, will allow companies to first standardize and then process development and testing data, presenting them in the form of analytical reports for management making decisions on the acceptance of development results. This will help you quickly identify the possibilities for moving to the next stages of the project or product life cycle, track the cause and effect of defects or incidents, and analyze the process of managing project quality.

The iFellow QA provides for setting up preliminary metrics for acceptance of development results. They may not answer specialized questions about the burning of the backlog or the level of productivity of specific team members, but they allow you to comprehensively make decisions on the acceptance of the results of any stage of work and supplement them with an analysis of the quality of the released software. It is also planned to implement a system of tips and recommendations in the product. Ready-made recommended standards for project quality data will unify the work of the internal customer team and the contractor development team and track results in metrics.

A simple and understandable interface will help users observe the dynamics of development quality and check the results taking into account the threshold values of metrics and restrictive measures.

The use of iFellow QA will reduce the burden on the internal team of customer companies, transfer the acceptance of results to an analytical approach, and enable contractors to standardize agreements for both sides of the project. With the accumulation of statistics, especially in long-term projects, the time-to-market between software development cycles will decrease. Customer companies will be able to reduce transaction costs for acceptance and interaction with contractors, and increase the maturity of the internal IT project team.

Technically, the module will integrate with the systems of customers or contractors, in which initial data on software development and testing are recorded, process them for analytics and form ready-made business results in conjunction with the recommendation system.

For October 2023, iFellow will test the solution on internal projects and test hypotheses with existing customers who order support services, custom software development and project quality testing from the company.

For an average growing business that does not specialize in IT development, there are not enough simple independent ways to manage the acceptance of IT projects. They either lack the maturity of internal processes or consistency with specialists in development. iFellow QA will allow customers, contractors or internal teams to unify the acceptance of results, monitor the quality of the development transition by life cycle, and assess whether there are any serious defects and risks. Our analytics product focuses on a business audience, ease of interface, a ready-made standard for implementing a data model, visual effects and a recommendation system. Using data and conclusions based on them, he will tell users how to manage the quality of projects during the life cycle of software development. Using it, business customers will be able to better establish relationships with advanced IT teams, receive the necessary information in various sections and degrees of detail, "said Elizaveta Burdina, head of the iFellow product office.
