2022: Switch to RuPost Mail Server

On October 12, 2023, the company RuPost"" (part of Astra Group"") announced the transfer All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Arts (VMDPNI) to domestic. mail server RuPost

To manage corporate mail, the museum previously used the foreign product Kerio Connect, but the developer revoked his license. As a result of studying the Russian market for software products for corporate email management, the museum management chose RuPost from RuPost. An important role was played by the operational and professional work of the developer's specialists, who not only quickly answered questions, but also provided a comprehensive solution to the final task. The decisive arguments were the functionality, the optimal cost of the product, as well as the availability of technical support.

200 licenses were acquired in December 2022. By the time the Kerio Connect mail server was recalled, the work on deploying RuPost and migrating to it had almost been completed. It is worth noting that corporate mail is not the only Astra Group product used by the museum: the Astra Linux operating system is installed on its servers, and it is planned to transfer users' work computers to it.

The implementation of RuPost was implemented by the VMDPNI IT service without the involvement of third-party specialists. Astra Group technical support staff provided prompt assistance in resolving issues that arose, thanks to which the launch of the RuPost mail server was successful, and users practically did not notice the transition.

The strategic decision to switch to Russian software was made by the leadership of VMDPNI after the release of Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 166 "On measures to ensure the technological independence and security of the critical information infrastructure of the Russian Federation," which prohibits the use of foreign software from 2025. One of the main tasks established by the leadership of our country is the transition to domestic equipment and software. Therefore, as part of the implementation of the import substitution plan, we chose domestic certified solutions. Our specialists conducted a comparative analysis of domestic mail servers, while the fundamental criteria were functionality, cost and the possibility of integration with other services. As a result, the optimal choice for us was the decision from the RuPost company, which was included in the register of Russian software, - said Andrei Terekhov, head of the information technology and information security department of VMDPNI.
