On October 12, 2023, MegaFon entered into a forward contract with Bulat for the purchase of up to 5 thousand base stations from 2024 to 2026. The financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
We agreed with our partner to supply equipment that meets all technical characteristics to provide subscribers with high-quality communication services. Financial parameters will depend on the configurations of specific supplies and are determined when forming orders for specific releases, the press service of MegaFon told Interfax. |
According to Bulat CEO Alexander Komarov, this is the second forward contract for the company, which is "critical." Earlier, Bulat entered into an agreement for the supply of about 17 thousand 2G/4G base stations (GSM/LTE) with Rostelecom. The products are expected to enter testing at the end of 2023.
In July 2023, MegaFon reported that the company is testing various types of network equipment of both foreign and domestic production from 2022. The telecom operator has also contracted with Yadro to supply base stations, with the company working to "expand its supplier network."
According to experts interviewed by Vedomosti, Russian telecommunications companies need several tens of thousands of base stations annually. According to the Megabitus service, companies have a slight decrease in speed (1-2 Mbps) on the network. Therefore, the current stocks of equipment without modernization, taking into account traffic growth by 30% in a year and a half, may not be enough, according to market participants referred to by the newspaper.[1]
