2023: Plans to restore the port for 20 billion rubles

On October 13, 2023, it became known about plans to restore the Magadan fishing port. A ship service complex will be built on its territory. The volume of investments in the project is estimated at 40 billion rubles.

According to Kommersant, the repair is planned to be carried out on the basis of a public-private partner, the project will be financed mainly at the expense of budget funds. The project should be discussed on October 13, 2023 at a meeting chaired by Governor Sergei Nosov.

The restoration of the port will reduce the costs of fishermen - Magadan is located next to fishing areas in the Sea of ​ ​ Okhotsk. Magadan can be reached from mining points in two days, while the road to Vladivostok takes up to six days. In the Far East, about 75% of the total national catch is mined. 60% of fish producers are based there, and the market for Russian fish exports in money is 65% of the country's entire fishing market.

Magadan Fishing Port was built in 1965. As of October 2023, it is in an abandoned state. At the moment, the port has only a pier and several flooded ships. At the same time, according to a Kommersant source, the port has a unique position in terms of proximity to the main fishing areas. In the northern and central part of the Sea of ​ ​ Okhotsk, about 200 thousand tons of fish are mined, as well as 200 thousand tons of salmon during the Putin period. According to experts, due to the need for ships to work through Vladivostok, 47.6 thousand ship hours per year are lost, and economic losses can reach 3.8 billion rubles.

According to the new concept, vessels with fish will be sent to Magadan, reload the goods into a container according to the ship-container principle, and then send them to the recipient by road along the Kolyma highway or by sea to Vladivostok. The volume of transshipment can be 200-220 thousand tons per year.

The cost of all work can be about 28 billion rubles, of which 10 billion are private investments. One of the investors is called Mag-Si International LLC[1]
