Rostelecom connected the highland camp for climbers "Bezengi" to the Internet

Rostelecom"" as part of its own investment plan to modernize the network, it covered the climbing training and sports base Bezengi"" in the Bezengi gorge of Kabardino-Balkaria with optical infrastructure. To implement the project, the company's technical specialists at an altitude of more than 2500 meters above sea level laid more than 20 km optical cable from the village of the same name closest to the base. The operator announced this on October 16, 2023.

The Bezengi Alplager is located on the territory of the Kabardino-Balkarian Highland State Reserve, in the border zone of the Russian Federation, so its connection to the Internet is due not only to the digital development of the region, but is also important for ensuring the country's security. The built optical infrastructure will be used by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the reserve administration and other state organizations. It will serve as a base for the development of cellular communications in the nearby highlands.

The intensive development of the tourist cluster in Kabardino-Balkaria requires the creation of an appropriate infrastructure, including the connection of modern communications. This project is of great importance for us because digital services increase the status of tourism facilities, create conditions for a comfortable stay and form a positive image of the region among tourists, - said Zalim Khutov, director of the Kabardino-Balkarian branch of PJSC Rostelecom.
