2023: Whitebox Switching and Routing Equipment Announcement

Telecommunications equipment and software solutions developer Emsior at the end of September 2023 introduced packet switching and routing equipment with support for 100 Gbps interfaces and open programmable Whitebox architecture.

One of the important modern trends in the telecommunications equipment market is equipment disaggregation - the separation of the hardware of network devices from the software. This helps reduce capital and operating costs. This is called whitebox - the "iron" component, depending on the customer's requirements, can be supplied both jointly and separately from the software. The advantage of this approach is the detachment of equipment manufacturers (switches) from the restrictions imposed by the hardware and functionality of equipment of traditional suppliers, that is, an open programmable architecture.

Exponential data growth coupled with global global digitalization and massive business growth are driving data center growth and demand for whitebox hardware.

The equipment is designed for use in local, departmental, corporate and technological computer networks, in the networks of operators of commercial and departmental data centers (data centers) for performing the functions of switching equipment and routing information packets of data transmission networks based on IP technology via access interfaces to the data transmission network using carrier control and Ethernet collision detection (25Gbit, 100Gbit).

At the time of development (and this is 2019), there were no 100Gbit network switches on the market at all. Even after four years, they began to appear, but there are still very few of them. This is the main advantage of our equipment, - said the general director Andrei Terentyev.
