PiS (Law and Justice Party)

Company

Political party in Poland.

Main article: Sejm of the Republic of Poland

2023

If you look at how the voivodships in Poland voted, it is quite easy to note a clear division. Former German possessions in the West actively supported the opposition, whose leader Donald Tusk was so persistently accused of having ties with Germany. At the same time, Eastern Poland in the majority advocated conservative Law and Justice (PiS).

In general, the news is not very good for PiS: in the previous parliamentary elections of 2019, the party won in most regions.

2019: Victory with 43.5% of the vote and 235 seats in the Sejm

In the 2019 vote, PiS led the election with 43.59% of the vote, again winning 235 seats in the lower house of parliament.

As of September 26, 2022,

Among the achievements of the PiS government are support for the traditional family, reform of the school system, the creation of a social security system, refusal to accept mass migration of Muslims, despite pressure from Brussels, an exponential economic boom, and the fight against the extremes of gender ideology.

The unconditional "skate" of PiS is social policy, which it emphasized this time too: the government announced the expansion of its flagship program "500 +," which provides for payments of 500 zlotys per month for each minor child, to "800 +." In addition, the authorities announced a reduction in the credit rate for the purchase of the first apartment for young families to 2% per annum.

For people under the age of 18 and over 65, the ruling party organized the Free Medicines initiative, during which you can get some of the medicines from the state budget.

At the same time, the ruling party is traditionally accused of plundering the country, the deepest corruption, spending budget funds, excessive dependence on the United States and Britain, as well as lack of flexibility in politics, which often caused disputes and fines from the European Commission.

The PiS electorate is mainly in the + 60 age group, these are middle-aged workers, Catholics and traditionalists. The ruling party at one time used all these features successfully, combining them with the support of social programs, which is why the core of its voters were residents of villages and small towns.

2015: First place in the elections with 37.6% of the vote and 235 seats in the Sejm

In the 2015 parliamentary elections, PiS took first place, gaining 37.6% of the vote and winning 235 seats in the Sejm.

2010: The death of Lech Kaczynski in a plane crash near Smolensk

PiS is headed by Jaroslaw Kaczynski - the twin brother of Smolensk Polish President Lech Kaczynski, who died in a plane crash in 2010, with whom they created a party. Yaroslav is considered one of the most influential people in Polish politics, he has repeatedly stated that Donald Tusk is personally guilty of the death of his brother.

2007: Election defeat

In 2007, when a special election was called, the government was headed by the party of Donald Tusk, taking over the initiative of the board from PiS until 2015.

2005: First election win

The party won its first victory in the 2005 elections, when it promised an unconditional fight against corruption and crime, and also demonstrated a tough approach to the "powerful leftist and liberal elite" controlling Poland.

2001: The founding of the party by the Kaczynski brothers for the construction of the Fourth Commonwealth

PiS was founded in 2001 and traditionally represents a national conservative focus, moderate Euroscepticism and clericalism.

PiS planned to build the so-called Fourth Commonwealth (IV RP): it should combine anti-Russian rhetoric with the protection of traditional values, religiosity and an attempt to build some illiberal democracy that limits a number of freedoms.
