The WatchGuard Application Control service not only protects from the threats of new generation operating through vulnerabilities of popular applications but also gives the chance to control directly via the corporate firewall use of applications by the staff of the company. Using more than 2.3 thousand unique signatures of applications, WatchGuard Application Control allows the firewall to identify and operate more than 1.5 thousand applications. Such level of control gives to the companies free rain at approval of business needs of requirements of IT policy and security policy. Counterbalancing these requirements, the companies increase efficiency and increase performance, and system administrators receive unprecedented degree of transparency of procedures of management and full control over applications which "come" from external networks.
Using WatchGuard Application Control service system administrators can select applications what they want to manage from 13 main categories. For example, in category "Programs of Message Exchange" administrators have an opportunity to operate such applications as QQ, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk, etc. Other categories include: "Mail" (HotMail, Gmail), Social networks (Facebook, MySpace), Peer-To-Peer (Gnutella, Bittorrent), "Terminals of remote access" (TeamViewer, GoToMyPC), Database (MS SQL), MegaUpload, VoIP (Skype), Videoservisa (YouTube, Hulu), MS Update and "Applications for creation of tunnels bypassing the firewall" (UltraSurf, Avoidr).
The WatchGuard Application Control service will be available to all devices of the WatchGuard XTM series in the fourth quarter 2010. In the territory of Russia products of WatchGuard Technologies are sold by Rainbow Security company through network of certified partners.
