2023: Product Announcement
On October 24, 2023, the Chinese company Xreal (formerly Nreal) introduced the Air 2 and Air 2 Pro smart glasses, which are capable of forming an image in front of the user's eyes equivalent to viewing a 330-inch display. The devices can be used with smartphones, personal computers and game consoles.
The gadgets use 0.55-inch Micro-OLED displays from Sony, providing a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels for each eye. The refresh rate reaches 120 Hz, the brightness is 500 nits. The angle of view is 46 degrees. It is said about the high accuracy of color reproduction. The glasses received two microphones and a new generation audio system with the effect of immersion in virtual space.
The difference between the regular version of the Air 2 and the Air 2 Pro model is that the second modification supports the dimming control function due to the presence of electrochromatic glass. Three modes of operation are available - completely transparent, productive and immersive. In the first case, the glasses let in all the light, which ensures a smooth view of the environment. In productivity mode, 35% of the light is blocked, so you can focus on the virtual display while continuing to see the environment. Immersive mode blocks 100% of the light, and therefore is suitable for watching movies or games.
Glasses can be used for voice calls or in-game chats. A USB Type-C or HDMI interface can be used to connect to a signal source, for example, a game console. The weight of the younger version is 72 grams, the older version is 75 grams. The Air 2 and Air 2 Pro models are available in the American and European markets for about $400 and $450, respectively. Modifications in black and red versions have been released. Sets of adhesive films are also offered for personalization in six other colors.[1]
