2023: Product Announcement
At the end of October 2023, Matter and Form announced the Three system, designed to create a realistic 3D color copy of any object. The system is expected to find applications in various fields, including design and computer-aided design.
The Three is a device with Sony stereoscopic cameras mounted on a tripod. It is claimed that the system creates photorealistic, highly detailed, full-color 3D scans of objects of various sizes - from coins to cars. The novelty works in any modern web browser and in any operating system.
The equipment of Three includes a 64-bit processor with four computing cores operating at a clock speed of 1.5 GHz. The amount of RAM is 4 GB, the capacity of the integrated flash module is 16 GB. The resolution of the cameras reaches 13 million pixels. The dimensions of the scanning unit are 251×119×31 mm, weight - 709 g.
The system can operate at a distance of 20-80 cm from the object, so that you can scan objects of different scales. To process the information received, you do not need to connect to the cloud platform - there are enough on-board computing resources. It is possible to use browsers such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc. Connection to the computer network is carried out via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. It is emphasized that no subscription fee is charged for using the platform.
Three, according to Matter and Form, is the first 3D scanner to feature a peripheral computing device. As of the end of October 2023, the novelty is offered at an estimated price of $1,500, but in the future the cost may increase to $3,000.[1]
