2023: Geely Satellite-Enabled Vehicle Exit
In February 2023, Geely unveiled a new line of Galaxy electric-powered vehicles. One of the main features of the machines is the use of the Chinese manufacturer's own satellite technologies.
To implement the space program, Geely is developing its own group of space satellites: the first nine were launched in 2022, by 2025 there will be 72 of them, and in the future we will talk about 240 devices.
The satellites help Geely develop a precise positioning network. Geely also plans to create an intelligent cloud platform OmniCloud, which will allow cars to communicate with other machines, road infrastructure, etc.
Geely has launched a space division called Geespace, which is creating a solution for unmanned control of machines using a satellite network. These developments are already being applied by the company. Thus, the Monjaro crossover is equipped with an L2-level autopilot based on machine vision. The technologies used allow the car to "notice" objects that appear on the road. Monjaro can automatically brake if necessary: using a satellite network, the electronics make sure that the driver does not accidentally move off the lane, and also signals "blind" spots. It is noted that Geely satellite technologies complement the operation of the Beidou satellite system.
The Geespace division built a satellite manufacturing plant in Taizhou and also opened a headquarters in southern Guangzhou, near other new space ones. startups Geely is assisted in this project by the government PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA as part of a private space support program.
Deep integration of the aerospace, auto and ICT industries has become an inevitable trend, Geely said in a statement.[1] |
