2023: Product Announcement

On 31 October 2023, Belfast-based Neurovalens announced the release of the Modius Sleep device for the treatment of chronic insomnia. This head-worn gadget provides non-invasive electrical stimulation of key areas of the brain and nervous system.

The novelty is made in the form of a rim with two electrodes that are superimposed on the zones behind the ear. The device delivers safe electrical pulses to the head, acting, in particular, on the regions of the hypothalamus. It is recommended to wear Modius Sleep 30 minutes before the intended bedtime. The developer claims that approximately 9 million Americans and 20% of the world's population use sleeping pills, all kinds of drugs or alternative products to improve sleep quality. Modius Sleep is a non-drug alternative that positively affects the body's circadian rhythm rather than just masking the problem.

Modius Sleep

According to Neurovalens, the device is suitable for anyone who has any sleep problems: these are those people who find it difficult to sleep, who wake up at night and cannot sleep again, as well as those who constantly feel that they do not get enough sleep. However, the headset is not positioned as a means of improving the state when changing time zones. The gadget is not designed to be worn in bed, but you can do various things in it, such as watching TV or reading.

Using the accompanying mobile application for smartphones based on Android and iOS, you can configure various parameters, in particular, the level of stimulation intensity, as well as view statistics. The gadget received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Modius Sleep is offered at an estimated price of $305 as of early November 2023.[1]
