2023: Employment at LetterOne

On October 25, 2023, LetterOneMikhail Fridman announced that Brandon Lewis, the former head of the British Ministry of Justice, had been appointed to the post of head of its advisory board under the chairman. At the new post, he will receive £250 thousand (approximately $312 thousand at the exchange rate as of November 20, 2023) per year for an eight-hour working week.

Lewis received permission to advise LetterOne from the Business Appointments Advisory Committee. He will also retain his parliamentary post in the House of Commons, but is barred from lobbying for LetterOne's interests. In addition, Lewis is barred from participating in a legal proceeding between the British government and LetterOne related to the demand for the sale of telecommunications operator Upp. Mikhail Fridman and Peter Aven, who own 49% of LetterOne, are under sanctions. At the same time, it is noted that they do not influence the company's business operations.

Lewis' deep experience will strengthen LetterOne's commitment to protect the 120,000 jobs that depend on the company's investment and to create businesses that matter to the economies of Britain, Europe and the United States, an official statement said.

Lewis' salary for LetterOne's advisory board position will be credited to Bergo Holdings, which is owned by him and his wife. Taking into account other posts occupied, Lewis's annual income will be approximately £500 thousand ($624 thousand). LetterOne's business is entirely separate from its sanctioned founders and focused on investments that are "vital to society," Lewis said.
