Data analytics in healthcare comes with a number of complexities and features related to both the amount of data accumulated, the diversity of sources and the time-consuming task control process, and the high level of confidentiality of medical data.

In this regard, the main tasks of data analytics in healthcare are to ensure that the user can generate interactive reports online, reflecting both the current situation in the context of medical organizations and generalized data for the region for provision to the Ministry of Health.

To solve the tasks, the data analytics system DataMed was created on the basis of Analytic Workspace (AW BI).

For comprehensive data analytics, the Medical Information and Analytical Center (MIAC) of the Smolensk Region also chose the DataMed solution. In the region, to collect health data, the Complex of Software Tools System for automating medical and insurance services for the population and maintaining an electronic medical record (KPS "SMSO") as part of the State Health Information System (GIZ SO) is used. KPS "SMSO" is established in each medical organization of the Smolensk region. One of the features of this system is a distributed database.

To collect data into a single database and further analytics, a mechanism was developed for interrogating the databases of subordinate medical organizations and exporting data to a special integration bus for DataMed - the Subsystem of GIZZ RS for data collection, which allows transferring cleaned data to the analytics system with minimal processing.

To create an integration bus, the contractor of Valko-Electronics LLC transferred information about all models used in DataMed, the development team carried out consultations and technical control.

At the same time, the information from the following subsystems of the RS GIS is currently included in the integration bus:

  • Medical Information System (MIS);
  • Electronic Medical Records Register (EDM);
  • Integrated Electronic Health Record (IEMC);
  • Managing patient flows.

At the stage of implementation of the analytical system, the Customer completely independently set up and transferred 24 dashboards to the active use phase, only a brief briefing from the vendor was required to master the system. Analytical panels such as:

  • Fertility analytics;
  • Hospital Admissions Analytics;
  • Analyst of doctor's appointment records;
  • Analytics of doctor's calls at home;
  • Electronic Document Submission Analytics to the EDM, etc.

The created dashboards in the system allow you to clearly display bottlenecks and problems, which allows you to study them in more detail, train specialist doctors and find solutions.

So, in the region, it has already been possible to significantly improve the indicators and resolve the situation with an appointment with a doctor, eliminate queues in clinics and improve the quality of patient care. This demonstrates the positive contribution and effectiveness of the Analytic Workspace-based DataMed system in solving problems and optimizing work in the field. health care
