In November 2023, it became known about the development in Russia of a unique bionic heart valve. The idea belongs to Shamil Gaysin, a student at Samara State Medical University. The valve he created was called TrueValve. It is assumed that this product will be able to reduce the dependence of Russian cardiovascular surgery on imports.

According to the press service of the SamSU, about 1.5 million children with congenital heart defects are born annually in Russia and in the world, and the frequency of development of acquired defects is 60 cases per 100 thousand children and adolescents. By 2023, the treatment of this pathology consists in the surgical replacement of a damaged heart valve with an artificial or biological one. In severe and advanced cases, a donor heart transplant is performed. Moreover, operations, as patients grow older, have to be done several times, every now and then choosing a valve in size. But thanks to the development of the Samara university, this problem will be solved.

There will be no need for repeated operations to replace the valve with a new one, suitable in size, due to the growing organism. There will also be no rejection, since materials and biopolymers are used that are not toxic, do not cause immune reactions from the patient, "Shamil Gaisin explained.

It is noted that the valve after implantation will be able to undergo biotransformation, gradually "integrating" into the heart and growing with the patient, which will radically solve the problem of replacing the artificial valve as the patient's body grows. Moreover, many disadvantages of valve substitutes in patients of any age category will be eliminated due to the presence of a high degree of personification, lack of immunogenicity and toxicity in the product being developed.[1]
