2023: Grant Program Launch

At the end of November 2023, Yandex announced the launch of the Open Source project support program. The authors of the best developments will receive grants for the use of Yandex Cloud services in the amount of 600 thousand rubles. They can be spent on a data platform, development tools and other services.

The decision to award is made by the program committee consisting of Yandex employees - managers and developers of our open source projects (YTsaurus, YDB, userver, Diplodoc, etc.). They evaluate applications according to the following criteria:

• Repository activity
• relevance and benefit;
• an understandable vector of development.

Yandex announced the launch of the Open Source project support program

You can apply for participation in three tracks: data processing and storage, development, machine learning. One developer can participate in a program with only one project. The first 15 winners will be determined by May 2024. After the results are announced, the grants will appear on Yandex Cloud accounts associated with the winners' e-mails. The collection of applications for participation in the program will last from November 27 to February 29, 2024. Grants will be issued until May 30, 2024.

Both an independent developer or a group of developers and employees of large companies can receive a grant. The main requirement for them is that the project should be developed outside the main work and outside the repositories associated with the employer, Yandex explained.

Yandex teams not only post their developments in open source, but also actively use external solutions and help develop them. This is very important for us, as we believe that technology should be open and accessible to the world. And so that open projects can develop better and even faster, we are launching a grant program, "said Leysan Zigangirova, Marketing Director of Yandex Open Source Technologies.[1]
