2023: System Development

On November 24, 2023, Russian scientists from National Medical Research Center (NMSC) of Coloproctology named after A.N. Ryzhikh Ministry of Health Russia announced the development of a new system for detecting malignant lesions of the colon that are not visible to a human doctor. The solution called ArtInCol is based on funds. artificial intelligence

The creation of ArtInCol was attended by specialists of the domestic IT company Alnisoft LLC. During an endoscopic examination of the colon (colonoscopy), the system using machine vision detects even the most invisible tumors. AI algorithms help the doctor find changes on the intestinal mucosa that may otherwise be missed. Thus, health care providers are able to identify neoplasms at an early stage and promptly prescribe the necessary treatment. This increases the chances of a patient recovering.

Experts call the main risk factors that provoke the occurrence of malignant formations of this type: chronic inflammatory diseases of the colon, abuse of alcohol and red meat, smoking, obesity, diabetes mellitus and low physical activity. People with a genetic predisposition should be especially attentive to the manifestation of this pathology.[1]
