In mid-September 2023, enthusiast Joel Hartlaub introduced a motorized computer table that allows you to work and play sports at the same time. The idea is to stimulate physical activity and reduce the health risks associated with a sedentary lifestyle.

Insufficient levels of physical activity, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), are one of the main risk factors for death from non-communicable diseases. Sedentary people have a 20-30% higher risk of death compared to those who devote enough time to sports or fitness. It is said that the physical activity of one in four adults in the world does not comply with international recommendations. Up to 5 million deaths per year could be prevented if the world's population was more physically active. Hartlaub's project is designed to help solve the problem.

The motorized workplace is based on the Corsair Platform:6 computer desk. It is equipped with an electric drive to adjust the height, which allows you to work behind the PC standing. The enthusiast added gyro motors, four pneumatic wheels, battery packs and a solar panel to the table design. All the necessary components are located on the table - a system unit, a monitor with a bland for protection against glare, speakers, a microphone, a camera, etc. There is a box for trifles and accessories.

Hartlaub notes that an unusual table allows him to work during outdoor walks: this achieves the necessary physical activity during the day. However, some internet users say it would be much easier to buy a standing desk and place a treadmill in front of it.^[1]
