Cisco and ARSPlus upgraded and expanded network of a video conferencing of TYUMGASU

The technology Cisco TelePresence group together with IT service provider ARSPlus company unrolled the solution of a video conferencing (VIDEOCONFERENCING) integrated into the available network of university for the Tyumen state architectural and construction university (TYUMGASU). The project is implemented in two weeks. The solution proposed by the companies is capable to provide video conference with other universities of the country and also with remote divisions of the university on 20 points on public Internet channels with high quality of permission of video signal.

Project objective – quality improvement and expansion of a range of the provided information services for employees and students of TYUMGASU, ensuring interaction with profile universities of the country and foreign colleagues for exchange of experience, holding meetings, sessions of distance learning and the presentations and also improvement of operational management and solving of tasks of production character in branches and structural divisions of the university.

Contractors of the project were faced by a task to provide a conference room of TYUMGASU with high-quality video conference with image quality not below 720p. For the solution of this task specialists of ARSPlus set two sets of VKS of Tandberg Quick Set C20 Plus which are providing absolute quality of video conference 1080r and having cameras with 12-fold image magnification that allows to show a close up of each participant of a video meeting. Also the server of a multipoint video conferencing of Tandberg Codian MCU 4210 capable to integrate in one connection 20 of video and 20 audiosubscribers was installed. In addition in the project the equipment of video switching and a video was used.

"The equipment Tandberg Codian MCU and VKS terminals Quick Set C20 Plus optimum meet the main requirements of technical specifications to the project of TYUMGASU, – the manager of projects of project department of ARSPlus company Sabantsev Alexander comments. – Two rotary digital video cameras as a part of Quick Set C20 Plus codecs have an opportunity to be focused automatically on the speaker, transferring all to other participants of video conference his image and concentrating attention on the speaker that provides additional communicative channels of communication at discussion and adoption of important solutions. Communication by means of VKS cardinally changes the level of mutual understanding of people: trust degree to each other raises, there is an opportunity to express emotions using a mimicry, gestures, body language and so on, i.e. all what we use at communication face to face".

Under the terms of the project terminal equipment of VKS is integrated with the congress system existing in university, the equipment of display of visual information and the document camera. The basic module of terminal equipment is connected to a recording device of sessions of VKS for the purpose of further use of video records (records of video conferences).
