2023: Building Infrastructure

Russian universities and scientific organizations have created an infrastructure accessible to everyone to launch commercial blockchain projects. This was announced at the end of November 2023 at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), which is participating in this initiative.

An independent decentralized autonomous organization will be created to manage the network. Both non-profit and commercial Russian organizations will be able to use the work of the network. The project provides that during the first year, the entry of information into the blockchain will be free, and at the next stage it will be necessary to pay rubles for this procedure.

The ChainLab team specializing in blockchain technologies will provide technical support for this initiative. According to the head of this project, Alexander Belenov, a license from the Central Bank of the Russian Federation is not required to use the network, since it will not be considered an information system operator (OIS), and all market participants will be able to use it.

Belenov also said that thanks to the new project, blockchain technology developers will have the opportunity to launch their smart contracts on the existing blockchain network without organizing support for their own infrastructure. Moreover, this network will allow you to create solutions for any load.

MIPT Rector Dmitry Livanov notes that such citywide blockchain networks already exist, for example, in China, and the moment has come for the introduction of such a progressive and user-friendly public network in Russia. The university adds that by November 2023, the main deterrent to the dynamic development of blockchain projects in Russia is the lack of a decentralized public network with the ability to pay for transactions not in cryptocurrency, but in rubles.[1]
