Open Data Center Alliance

Company

At the end of October, 2010 it was announced creation of consortium Open Data Center Alliance which members was number of the largest companies from different branches of the economy: BMW carmaker, UBS, Deutsche Bank and JPMorgan Chase financial groups, Marriott International hotel chain and the world's largest oil and gas company Shell. Considering that the purpose of consortium is development of general requirements to functionality and compatibility of infrastructure of the modern cloud systems, and total expenses of its participants on purchases of products and services IT exceed 50 billion dollars, influence of the new organization cannot be underestimated, observers consider.[1]

In the IT market there is a fast consolidation, and formation of several superlarge vendors proposing entirely highly integrated solutions tied on them can be its result, analysts warn. Meanwhile, the activity of the user groups decreases. In these conditions Open Data Center Alliance has all potential to become the powerful center of influence pushing suppliers to development of open and compatible solutions.
