2023: Product Announcement
In early December 2023, Looking Glass introduced a portable holographic display that can view three-dimensional images generated from a regular photo. The novelty is called Looking Glass Go.
The device uses autostereoscopy technology: it makes it possible to view 3D content without any additional devices in the form of VR glasses, etc. The desired effect is achieved thanks to the use of an array of lenticular lenses: different beams of light are directed to the left and right eyes, which allows you to create a sense of volume. However, to view such a hologram, the user must be at a certain angle to the surface of the screen. According to the developers, the Looking Glass Go panel provides 100 viewpoints in the 58-degree range. Thus, several people can see a 3D picture at the same time.
The novelty is equipped with a 6-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 × 2560 pixels (491 pixels per inch). There are Wi-Fi and Bluetooth adapters, which, among other things, allows you to download 3D images from the cloud. The device does not have a built-in battery, and power is supplied via the USB Type-C interface. There is also no own speaker, but you can connect headphones through the standard 3.5 mm connector to listen to audio.
The Looking Glass Go display has a foldable design: one of the halves of the case can act as a stand for placing the device at a convenient angle. Dimensions are 160 × 80 × 19 mm, weight - about 235 g. The gadget can fit in a pocket or a small handbag. There are buttons on the side to control the slide show. As of the beginning of December 2023, the novelty is offered at a price of $300.[1]
