2023: Site Launch
On December 13, 2023, it became known that the Russian video game developer Lesta, known for projects such as Tank World and Ship World, opened a platform for distributing Base video games. Third-party Russian and foreign video games will be distributed through this service.
According to the Kommersant newspaper, investments in a new line of business in 2024 are estimated at 2.7 billion rubles. The funds will go, in particular, to sign contracts with foreign copyright holders, localize games and deploy the necessary infrastructure. Until the end of 2023, the Chinese game SuperBall will be presented on the site, as well as the Russian mass multiplayer online role-playing game Royal Quest. In 2024, the range of products on the Base platform will increase to six to ten items - we are talking primarily about Chinese and Korean projects.
Market participants say that through Base, Lesta expects to diversify the business in order to reduce the share of revenue from its main projects inherited by the studio after the division of the business with Wargaming. The new platform will focus on activities in the markets of Russia and the CIS, Latin America, as well as a certain macro-region, which as of mid-December 2023 is not called.
In the horizon of five years, we expect that Base will be able to earn up to 20-30% of the turnover of its partner structure - Lesta Games, - say representatives of the site. |
Kommersant also notes that the operator of Base is Digital Line LLC, registered on September 5, 2023. By December 2023, this structure is 100% owned by Daniil Volkov, who is an employee of Lesta. Market participants call Volkov "extremely close" to Malik Khatazhaev, the owner of Lesta[1]
