2023: Plans to use Google's AI to improve burgers
McDonald's has announced a collaboration with Google aimed at expanding their global loyalty base to 250 million people. According to the company, thanks to a cloud computing deal with Google-owner Alphabet, it will use generative artificial intelligence to accelerate innovation in its equipment, identify trends that could disrupt its business processes and simplify restaurant teams.
McDonald's claims that thanks to AI, burgers will become not only tastier, but also healthier. Google CEO Sundar Pichai noted that artificial intelligence offers opportunities for innovation, and he's excited to see how McDonald's will use Google's tools to improve the restaurant experience around the world.
These AI plans are part of McDonald's push to improve the quality of its products. The company plans to grow its global restaurant chain by about 10,000 locations over the next three years, while increasing its loyalty program membership from 150 million by about two-thirds.
McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski said the collaboration will allow the company to add another $45 billion to its sales by 2027[1].
