2019: End of the first stage of construction of DPC in Riga
On April 25, 2019 the DEAC company reported that it completed the first stage of construction of data center of data processing in Riga.
According to the company, the spaciousness of data center assumes 400 server racks under needs of clients, providing the level of availability of service not less than 99.98%. Thus the total quantity of racks of DEAC in Riga will grow from 330 to 730. It will be the first data center of DEAC with a power of 4 MW, earlier constructed 2 MW data centers were completely filled by clients from the Baltic States, Europe, Russia and the CIS. The general investments into data center will exceed €10 million.
Infrastructure of data center will conform to the international standard Tier III. In difference from the existing two data centers of DEAC in Riga whose IT infrastructure is divided between a large number of clients, resources of DPC will be selected under several key corporate clients.
The fast-growing Russian companies which are going to expand the business in Europe need in is closer to the located IT infrastructure for acceleration of content delivery and data to end users that corresponds to the principles of the concept of Edge Computing. In turn increase in amount of data creates the need for individual IT solutions for increase in efficiency and cost reduction and also in expansion of IT infrastructure.
The location of DEAC is suitable as a transit point of traffic or for deployment of reserve data centers for entry into the European market. Meanwhile, risk diversification using reserve data center for security to business can be a part of the plan of B of the enterprises. The DPC will allow clients to provide necessary computing resources without restrictions. Andris Gaylitis, CEO of DEAC company |
2018: Confirmation of conformity of ISO 22301:2012
In 2018 DEAC confirmed compliance to the international standard on management of business continuity of ISO 22301:2012 for both data centers in Riga. Certification of ISO 22301:2012 (Business Continuity Management System) as of 2018 is considered the only reliable basis in the world for effective and fast recovery of activity of data center in case of interruptions, noted in DEAC.
2017: DEAC invests 10 million euros in construction of data center
At the beginning of a year the operator of data centers of DEAC completed design of the third data processing center (DPC) in Riga which start is planned for the beginning of 2018. After start in operation of new data center.
Infrastructure of data center will conform to the international standard Tier III and will allow to contain 400 server racks. Thus the total quantity of racks of DEAC in Riga will grow from 330 to 730. Rapid growth of number of customers from Russia and the CIS countries is the cornerstone of this strategic step.
"From leading of a power line with a power of 4 MW we completed the first stage of construction of the facility. The data center is designed according to the TIER III standard which provides the minimum indicator of availability - 99.98%", – SEO noted DEAC companies Andris Gaylitis. "The portfolio and the number of clients grows, our geographic location is extremely relevant for clients from Russia, besides the market of Asia is reoriented towards the Baltic countries where DEAC is in the lead as in terms of infrastructure, and experience in export markets. The location of DEAC is also ideal as a transit point of traffic or for deployment of reserve data centers for entry into the European market. The existing infrastructure of the company allows to develop at the capacities IT projects of the high level already today, a start of new data center will allow and to provide further to clients necessary computing resources without restrictions that is very important criterion when choosing the supplier of IT-services."
2012
Infrastructure of the European operator of DEAC in the data center Riga, largest in the Baltics, continues to be filled with the rented equipment of Customers. In 2012 growth was 75% that validates the selected rate of strategic development of DEAC at the markets of the CIS countries in 2009. So rapid filling of data center is observed for the first time.
In the third quarter 2012 Goa, for needs of customers the company leased more than 400 items of equipment – servers, storage systems and network devices. Also DEAC observes expansion of a range of services among customers – storage systems for deployment of own private "cloud" (private cloud) join leased servers.
The lion share in filling of the areas of data center this year belongs to the Russian clients among whom leaders in the market niches to which infrastructure of DEAC provides functioning of the major business processes occur. Experts of DEAC note growth of amount of requests also from the Ukrainian business that is explained by active work of DEAC the market of Ukraine since the beginning of this year. DEAC is going to open within the next year representation in Kiev.
Concentration in the markets of the CIS countries allowed to increase turnover of DEAC by 260% for the last 3 years. Within the next 3 years the European operator of data centers is going to reach the double growth of turnover.
Also in plans of the company - to begin construction of several data centers in the Baltics, Germany and Holland, each with a capacity from 1000 racks and significant increase in loading of the existing data centers, based on large-scale mastering of foreign markets.
2010
Innovation of November, 2010 - implementation of modern storage systems for needs of the enterprises of Europe and Asia, the volume of storage systems is measured by tens of TB (terabyte) in Baltic data center Riga. "The new solution data storage is based on the EMC platforms and exceeds amount in the 50th terabyte (TB). Data exchange happens via the Fibre Channel interfaces to a data exchange rate in several Gbps. Therefore the main indicators of a new solution is a speed, reliability and volume", the chairman of the board of DEAC Gaylitis Andris tells, having added that it is the next step in implementation of so-called 'cloud computing' (cloud computing) in infrastructure of data centers of DEAC. After the conducted market researches, the virtual DEAC platform, in comparison with other service providers of data centers in the Baltics - the most powerful.
Technologies of cloud computing give an opportunity to perform lease of IT solutions which are serviced by the certified team of professionals available round the clock through a reliable Internet channel. "Today to equip and support a working environment with the computers, the software and IT personnel – it expensive, inefficient and unsafe. Analysts of the IT industry predict that within the next years the amount of data of the enterprises will grow by 500%. It means that costs for support and service of IT infrastructure will also grow. Using remote data storage in so-called "cloud", it is possible to reduce costs up to 40%", A. Gaylitis tells about advantages of a virtual working environment.
One of the most important trends of the IT industry within the next five years – the growing amount of data. "The Economist" tells that in 2005 in the world 150 exabytes of data were created, in turn in 2010 – 1,200 exabytes (1 exabyte is 1 billion gigabytes or half of trillion MP3 files). Cisco predicts that till 2013 it will pass 667 exabytes of information only through the Internet (for comparison – Google annually processes 8 exabytes of information). "It is interesting that all a few years ago spoke about gigabytes and it seemed much, and now for home use hard drives of several terabyte are purchased, and in turn in data centers it is about exabytes, zettabytes and yottabytes. It means that data centers need to be ready to provide infrastructure, kotorya is able to support such solutions of large volume and data centers of DEAC – some of them," A. Gaylitis tells. "Today the enterprises want that the money invested in IT solutions began to pay off as soon as possible. And what if in an hour? The solutions DEAC on data storage – a successful investment in protection of business as we can guarantee high risk diversification and offer creation of reserve data center. Besides, IT solutions of data storage of the highest level are available now beginning from several hundred euros a month", A. Gaylitis emphasizes.
Researches of different analysts of the IT industry show that even at the large companies the limit of volume of the stored data is very small. Mostly they are not ready to react quickly to growth of amount of data, to arrange all technical requirements on new requests. "More than ten years ago the enterprises were neglected servers. Presently it is necessary to think of complete solutions of data storage that first - is reliable, secondly – it is convenient, for faster reaction to growth of information volume, and thirdly – at the adequate price. Use of services of data centers helps to save on electricity consumption that presently an important factor," is emphasized by A. Gaylitis, noting that one of the most effective solutions is data storage in so-called "clouds" today.
The total area of server premises of the DPCs belonging to DEAC (DPC Riga and DPC of "Grizinkalns") is 1000 sq.m. The scheme of power supply – provides repeated duplication of power lines up to TIER IV, and communication connections provide as direct connection to all regions of the Russian Federation including to exchange bureaus given in Moscow (MSK-IX) and St.-Petersburg (SPB-IX), and entry into big European exchange bureaus (LINX) given in Amsterdam (AMS-IX), Frankfurt (DE-CIX), London, Riga (LIX) and in other large cities with a required speed the Internet of connection.
