2023: Receiving 100 million rubles for winning the competition

In December 2023, the Bashkir developer of the neural network for finding lost people KurAI won the Up Great "Emergency Search" competition of the National Technological Initiative (NTI) and received a cash prize of 100 million rubles. The group includes Salim Baigildin (captain), Ilnaz Fatkullin and Timur Idrisov. All of them are graduates of Bashkir universities.

The competition was organized by the NTI Project Support Fund, the LizaAlert search and rescue squad and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT). A total of 12 teams participated in the final. According to the terms of the competition, participants had to find with the help of a neural network of their own development at least 80% of search objects, which were people. To train AI systems, a database (datacet) was used, containing more than 64 thousand images of people in the natural environment.

The result of our team is a neural network for finding lost people using drones. Now she will be able to help the volunteers of the LizaAlert detachment in their difficult work. The program of Ufa children was able to recognize 16 out of 18 people hidden in different places, - said the head of Bashkiria Radiy Khabirov.

According to programmer Salim Baigildin, KurAI became the only team that not only crossed the technological barrier, but "exceeded" it, finding 89% of people hidden in a forest belt using its own neural network. The startup is not going to stop there, he added.

After the end of the tests, the winning team members joined the LizaAlert volunteer search and rescue squad and are already participating in the real search for the missing people. The children created a graphical interface that will allow volunteers and search staff to use the technical solution developed as part of the competition with convenience in the future.[1]
