Presidential Library switched to Astra Group IT solutions

2023: Transition to Astra GC solutions

The presidential library switched to the IT solutions of the Astra Group, which announced this on December 26, 2023.

The state institution is transferring its IT infrastructure to Russian software. Astra Linux was chosen as the operating system, and RuBackup and ALD Pro were implemented for backup and centralized domain management, respectively.

In 2022, the leadership of the Presidential Library made a strategic decision to import substitution of foreign system software. Previously, the institution used the operating system and domain infrastructure management service of a foreign vendor.

At the preliminary stage, specialists of the Department of Hardware and Software Complexes of the Presidential Library selected several operating systems from the "Register of Russian Software." After the stage of evaluating the selected IT solutions, piloting was carried out, which helped to identify the shortcomings and advantages of domestic products. The study also evaluated the functionality of software products and the level of technical support of suppliers.

The customer acquired licenses for Astra Linux and ALD Pro at the end of 2022, and in June 2023 the RuBackup boiler was replenished with a stack of software products. It was installed by a team of library IT specialists, Astra Group employees provided comprehensive technical support, helping to solve problems of various complexity. The purchased software complex has been successfully implemented and put into commercial operation.

Our experience in implementing our own program for transferring IT infrastructure to domestic solutions using Astra family products allows us to confirm the versatile high competencies of the Astra Group team as a supplier of a comprehensive software stack of system and infrastructure software, "said Alexander Fedotov, Deputy Director of the Department of Hardware and Software Complexes of the Presidential Library.

The process import substitution has been actively ongoing for several years. The Presidential Library is not only a nationwide electronic repository of digital copies of the most important documents, but also a high-tech organization, an educational and a scientificallyeducational center.
