Biography

2023: Net worth exceeded $100 billion

On December 28, 2023, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the world's first woman appeared, whose fortune exceeded $100 billion. She became Francoise Betancourt Myers - granddaughter of the founder and deputy chairman of the board of L'Oréal.

The capital of 70-year-old Myers reportedly reached $100.1 billion, which corresponds to 12th place in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index on the specified date. The granddaughter of the founder of L'Oréal is the richest woman on the planet. An increase in her fortune was helped by the growth of L'Oréal shares to a record level: the indicators achieved were the best since 1998.

Despite the increase, the French entrepreneur's fortune is still significantly less than that of compatriot Bernard Arnault, founder of luxury supplier LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE. It ranks second on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index list with a fortune of approximately $179 billion. The first line is held by Elon Musk with $232 billion.

Myers and her family hold a stake of about 35% in L'Oréal. Her sons Jean-Victor Meyers and Nicolas Meyers are active in the company, the former being a member of the Sustainability and Stability Committee and the latter an Audit Committee. Despite the great wealth, Françoise Betancourt Myers avoids the luxurious social life that many Fatosums aspire to. She plays the piano for several hours each day and has written a number of books, notably a five-volume biblical study.

Françoise Betancourt Myers also heads the family holding company Téthys, which owns L'Oréal's stake. Her husband Jean-Pierre Myers is the chief executive of the company. In 2016, the couple founded a sister structure, Téthys Invest SAS, which focuses on areas not competing with L'Oréal.[1]
