2024: Product Announcement

On January 8, 2023, Philips announced the Palm Recognition Smart Deadbolt Wi-Fi smart door lock. The peculiarity of the device is that it is able to open the door by scanning the palm.

At the heart of the smart lock is a vein scanner - a sophisticated technology that automatically detects and recognizes the unique pattern of vessels on a person's palm. This is said to provide an unprecedented level of security as falsification "becomes an insurmountable problem." In addition, the convenience of interaction with the device is improved, since scanning is carried out remotely: it is not necessary to apply the palm to the sensor, as in the case of fingerprints. The technology ensures that family members of all ages can easily access their home.

In addition, the novelty is equipped with the Grab & Go function based on integrated proximity sensors. When people reach for an internal handle or constipation, the sensors detect their presence and send bolt unlock signals. This feature eliminates the need to physically manipulate the bolt, providing a quick and unobstructed exit from the room.

The castle provides the ability to fully integrate with smart home ecosystems. In particular, it is compatible with the voice assistants Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Users can monitor and manage the device using voice commands or Philips Home Access. In addition, a built-in Wi-Fi controller is provided: this eliminates the need for additional Wi-Fi bridges and simplifies pairing and locking using a mobile application. As of early January 2024, the Philips Wi-Fi Palm Recognition Smart Deadbolt is priced at approximately $360.[1]
