2024: Application by the Russian Army

On January 14, 2024, it became known that Sania FPV-drone suppression systems developed by 3mx began to be installed on Russian tanks in the special operation zone. This system quickly responds to both single drones and groups of aircraft.

"Saniya" consists of two units - a detector and a suppressor. The first scans the space for the presence of single FPV drones or an entire swarm at a distance of up to 1.5 km. The second is designed to combat drones: suppression occurs at a distance of up to 1 km. Moreover, the suppressor is activated only when the UAV is detected and automatically turns off when the detector stops recording drone signals.

The developer notes that "Sania" can be used in stationary or mobile modes. In the first case, a tripod or bracket is used for installation. In mobile use, the system is mounted on a vehicle (tank, car or APC) and provides protection against FPV drones in motion. The equipment, power and power consumption depend on the specific configuration. In this case, the full technical characteristics of the product are a trade secret.

According to the Kommersant newspaper, referring to the information disseminated by the Russian Defense Ministry, the Sania complex was used in the South Donetsk direction in the DPR. The system, in particular, received tank crews of the 9th motorized rifle brigade of the 1st Army Corps. The product is installed on T-80BVM tanks.

It turned out that this complex works very effectively. To date, I believe that this is extremely in demand, because FPV drones are very actively used both from our side and from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but protection against them is an extremely important element in such an unmanned confrontation, - said the head of the department of political analysis and socio-psychological processes of the Plekhanov PRUE, retired colonel Andrei Koshkin.[1][2]
