2023: Decrease in the average concentration of mechanical impurities by more than 14 times
The Vormhols Implementation solution allowed to reduce the average concentration of mechanical impurities by more than 14 times and increase the well production rate by 5-10 times. The overhaul period increased from 1.5 to 7 months. After successful piloting, NNK-Varioganneftegas plans to introduce the technology in several subsidiaries of NNK, Rosneft and Lukoil. The Skolkovo Foundation announced this on January 19, 2024.
The development is a filter with a packed filter element and a modified phase permeability, which shows high efficiency in preventing water breakthrough into oil and gas production wells. The filter is designed specifically for the production of oil from hard-to-recover formations, including those containing large amounts of sand.
A huge volume of reserves in Russia lies in hard-to-recover formations, including with a large amount of sand. Standard production methods and equipment used by most companies are not applicable for such conditions, which leads to clogging of filters and reduction of production. The filter we developed is a breakthrough technology. It prevents sand clogging and does not lose its properties over time, which allows companies to produce more oil and gas, and also significantly reduces the cost of production itself, said Oleg Zhuravlev, founder of WORMHOLS Implementation.

The use of the filter is aimed at sand control and prevention of water breakthrough. This filtering media technology allows the modification of the phase permeability to obtain additional resistance on the filter when passing a liquid with a high water content and freely passing a liquid with a low water content. High permeability makes oil production more efficient.
