2024: Arrest on charges of taking a large bribe

On January 19, 2024, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow arrested the Deputy Minister of Health of the Moscow Region, Alexander Zakharov, on charges of taking a bribe. He was taken into custody for a period of two months, until March 17, 2024.

By a resolution of the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow, Zakharov Alexander Vladimirovich, who holds the post of Deputy Minister of Health of the Moscow Region, was sent to a pre-trial detention center. Zakharov was charged with committing a crime under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (taking a bribe), the press service of the Moscow courts of general jurisdiction said.

According to sources of "Ленты.ру," we are talking about bribery in the amount of 150 million rubles. According to the publication, the interlocutor in law enforcement agencies, Alexander Zakharov was detained on January 16, 2024. On the same day, he was dismissed from the Moscow Region Ministry of Health of his own free will, the publication says. Zakharov's portrait and personal data disappeared from the website of the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region, as Zdrav.Expert journalist was convinced.

According to "Ленты.ру," a criminal case was initiated under the article on receiving a bribe on an especially large scale as part of an organized group. The article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for 8-15 years. According to the Telegram channel "112," the official was caught on a bribe of 150 million rubles from a contracting construction company that is engaged in major repairs. The details of the case were not officially disclosed by January 22, 2024. In the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region, Alexander Zakharov was responsible for the overhaul and maintenance of buildings of health care institutions.

"Лента.ру" notes that earlier Alexander Zakharov was convicted of giving a bribe, but by January 2024 the verdict in this case from the databases had disappeared.[1]
