GK 1520 digitalizes railway transportation with MMC "Udokan"

2023: Equipping Rail Tracks with Digital Automation

Specialists of the ZHAT GK 1520 Division (part of the National Project Building) equipped the railway tracks of the rail base of the Udokan mining and metallurgical plant with Russian-made digital automation. The microprocessor centralization system MPC-EL with built-in protection against cyber attacks will control the movement of trains here. The rail base or transport and warehouse complex of the MMC "Udokan" is a special facility in the area of ​ ​ the Novaya Chara station of the Baikal-Amur Railway. It ensures reliable storage, reception and shipment of finished products, as well as materials and equipment necessary for production.

The MPC-EL system was introduced on the non-public tracks of the Udokan MMC rail base, as well as on the 11-km railway line adjacent to the Novaya Chara BAMa station. Automation allows you to remotely control switches and traffic lights, set train routes according to the specified parameters, diagnose the state of railway tracks.

Digitalization of railway tracks will increase train safety and significantly reduce operating costs. The performance of the system is calculated immediately taking into account the planned expansion of production at Udokan as part of the second stage of the project.

The Udokan copper deposit is one of the largest in Russia, its resources are 26.7 million tons. The development of the field is carried out by the Udokanskaya Copper company. In September 2023, the company began producing copper concentrate at the processing plant of the Udokan mining and metallurgical plant.
