2023: Ixar Platform Tests
EVRAZ conducted comprehensive tests of the domestic software platform ICSAR"" in combination with industrial augmented reality AR glasses (glasses). This was Inline Group announced on January 30, 2024.
During the month, production employees carried out routine maintenance operations for the equipment of the small-scale workshop. The work process is a repeatable operation, the correctness of which directly affects the safety of employees and the reliability of equipment.
The peculiarity of the tests consisted in checking devices and technologies in real workshop conditions, taking into account environmental factors, noise, low light and other features of the production process.
This digital solution is necessary to reduce the time for solving complex cases that require the joint work of operating personnel directly next to the equipment and more experienced experts located remotely, as well as to ensure the repeatability of routine maintenance work performed in the workshop, which directly affects the reliability indicator.
The pilot site was United Western Siberian Metallurgical Plant in Novokuznetsk - a full-cycle enterprise producing rolled metal for, construction railway and. industries industries
Thanks to the functionality of ICSAR, it was possible to quickly configure the graphic schedule for the work on AR glasses and launch the solution into trial operation.
The model of AR glasses selected for testing is implemented in industrial design in dust and waterproof case, with active noise cancellation up to 100 Db and special directional microphones for comfortable and error-free voice control of all actions in ICSAR software, 48 MP camera and 4-fold optical zoom, full-shift battery and, if necessary, with the ability to quickly replace it with a hot one with a spare kit.
AR glasses leave the employee's hands free to perform current operations, and ICSAR software allows you to display the work schedule on the screen right in front of the employee's eyes in the form of step-by-step graphic and text instructions for action. In this case, the employee by voice fills in the values in the data entry fields, checklists, scans the labels and receives additional information that is significant for the process. Photo and video recording of incidents/defects in relation to equipment, process step, time, employee and other parameters allows providing specialized services with advanced analytics for prompt decision-making.
A feature of ICSAR is its own group video conferencing system (VKS) with the connection of employees in augmented reality glasses. In fact, an experienced expert remotely sees from the first person in real time everything that happens to the equipment and can draw in augmented reality on top of a "live" video stream of tips for an employee in AR glasses. Such VKS sessions are automatically stored in reference to a wide list of analytical signs and in the future become, among other things, an expert knowledge base on working with complex cases of repairs, diagnostics and other non-standard situations.
The pilot project confirmed that such technologies are already ready for industrial use and for 2024 the company plans to form a comprehensive implementation program, as well as study the functions of ICSAR based on machine vision and artificial intelligence technologies.
