Avaya Virtual Enterprise Network Architecture (Avaya VENA)

Product
Developers: Avaya
Date of the premiere of the system: September, 2010
Technology: Virtualization

The architecture of Avaya Virtual Enterprise Network Architecture (Avaya VENA) allows to optimize easily deployment of business applications and services in data processing centers and campuses, and also between them. Besides, Avaya VENA gives the chance to considerably cut down expenses and delivery time of services due to more effective optimization of network connections between application servers and end users – generally thanks to end-to-end connection of a desktop with a data processing center. Besides, the solution allows to configure much more simply services and politicians in network, to reduce quantity of reconfigurations and reengineering of network and also offers new advanced tools for network management – all this reduces risks for technical leads.

The Avaya company announces support of architecture of Avaya VENA the conclusion of a number of agreements with other companies. Among these VMware organizations, the market leader in the field of virtualization and cloud infrastructure; QLogic, the leading company in the field of convergent networks; Coraid, the famous producer of network systems of data storage based on Ethernet SAN; Silver Peak Systems, leader of WAN optimization of data processing centers; etc. All companies are participants of the Avaya DevConnect program which was created especially for development and sale of the innovation products of the third parties connected with Avaya technologies. Avaya VENA is based on open industry standards. Avaya actively develops the partner communications and expands an ecosystem for support of this architecture.

The new architecture uses ‘Virtual Services Fabric’ (a virtual switching matrix) which works in all network and provides a configuration "in one contact" the complete range of opportunities of virtual service networks (Virtual Services Networks). This architecture increases flexibility and scalability, thanks to providing infrastructure which creates "a private cloud" for content delivery at any time and provides very simple access to applications. This approach allows to protect also the main corporate networks from expensive falling of network or from human errors which often happen at traditional, difficult processes of providing access or adding, removal, change of applications in virtual environment.

The Virtual Services Fabric function as a part of architecture of Avaya VENA is based on IEEE Shortest Path Bridging technology that provides stability, simplicity and compatible connection which is transparent everything jointly supports at the same time the existing services. Avaya VENA works at new modular and stationary platforms for a data processing center, being at the same time an easy way of upgrade of the existing products.

The new architecture is maintained using the Avaya Virtual Services Platform 9000 platform (Avaya VSP 9000), the platform ready to the future in which support of the appearing technologies 40/100G is provided. Avaya VENA also support the products Avaya Ethernet Routing Switch 8600 and 8800. Now Avaya develops a number of top-of-rack (aggregation of traffic of a rack) of solutions of new generation within the product family of VSP for DPC with support of high density of ports 10G, and further to raise it to 40/100G and to develop FCoE. Moreover, in 2011 a series of campus products which will allow to expand easily Virtual Service Fabric on all campus and the filial periphery will be provided. Solutions of data transmission Avaya allow to cut down operating expenses of the enterprise due to power saving and develop at the same time the existing investments into infrastructure without need to make expensive replacement of all equipment.
