2024: Verification of product purchases by the prosecutor's office
On January 29, 2024, the Prosecutor's Office of the Novosibirsk Region initiated a quality check of medical devices purchased by the Ministry of Health of the region for children suffering from type 1 diabetes. We are talking about Chinese blood glucose monitoring systems of the Dr Brinner brand, which, as stated, can harm patients.
The Novosibirsk public organization of diabetes patients "Dialife" announced the centralized purchase by the local Ministry of Health of 332 sensors and 1731 transmitters of continuous glucose monitoring systems Dr Brinner RGMS-II. This product is three carbon needles that are in the patient's body. The instructions of the devices say that the correctness of the readings may be impaired due to human sweat. Possible bleeding has been cited as a side effect.
The head of Dialaife, Anastasia Smolina, believes that the risks and inconveniences associated with the use of Dr Brinner RGMS-II outweigh the potential benefit. The device is traumatic, and the child will most likely not be able to use it on his own. The organization sent an appeal to the Minister of Health of the Novosibirsk Region Konstantin Khalzov, in which it asked to terminate the concluded contracts for the supply of Dr Brinner RGMS-II. At the same time, Dialaif's appeal about dangerous systems interested the regional prosecutor's office.
During the inspection, an assessment of the quality of purchased medical devices will be given. If there are grounds, comprehensive measures of the prosecutor's response will be taken, the ministry said in a statement. |
In turn, the Ministry of Health of the Novosibirsk Region declares that all procurement procedures were carried out within the framework of the law. At the same time, it is emphasized that monitoring systems are "completely safe."[1]
