2024: The beginning of serial "growing"

The United Engine Corporation has introduced a comprehensive additive production technology at the UEC-Kuznetsov enterprise. Rostec announced this on February 8, 2024. So far, printing of parts of the low-emission combustion chamber (MEX) of the NK-36ST industrial engine has been mastered. "Grown" components have already been tested and launched into a series.

The use of MEKS in engines allows you to reduce emissions of harmful substances into the environment.

Serial production of MEX parts by direct and selective laser growth methods has reduced the production time of parts by 15% compared to traditional production methods. The technology also provides a high material utilization rate - more than 70%, while the amount of scrap does not exceed 5%.

The Samara enterprise is actively developing its production capabilities, with the support of the UEC and the State Corporation Rostec has found a new life and is implementing a large-scale investment program. It is an industrial center using advanced technologies in mass production, including 3D printing. The use of additive technologies in combination with an intelligent system of design and technological preparation of production made it possible to create ten high-tech jobs and reduce the production time for industrial engine parts with increased characteristics, "said Pavel Chupin, General Designer of UEC-Kuznetsov.

In addition, the production of parts from new types of domestic powder alloys, including those based on nickel and titanium, was mastered. Bench tests of the "grown" parts as part of the experimental NK-36ST engine fully confirmed the strength, temperature and environmental parameters of the engine with a low-emission combustion chamber.

The project "Organization of high-tech production of industrial gas turbine engines with an intelligent system of design and technological training to improve functional characteristics" was carried out jointly with Samara University. Academician S.P. Korolev.
