"Leaked" changes HP servers for IBM Power7

The Russian distributor of the pharmaceutical medicines "PROCEEDED" passed to IBM POWER7 systems for the data processing center.

"LEAKED" is one of the largest Russian distributors of pharmaceutical medicines and goods for beauty and health, delivering these products for 44000 drugstores and treatment and prevention facilities through the whole country. Rapid growth of business "LEAKED" also implementation of a new ERP system on the scale of all offices, branches and regional representative offices led to the sharp growth of workload on corporate information and technology infrastructure. The existing IT system "LEAKED", SuperDome founded on HP servers, could not cope with the increased requirements to performance. Aiming to avoid further idle times in work of important business applications, the Board of Directors of the company made the decision to pass to the new server platform.

Both IBM, and HP took part in the tender for supply of equipment for new IT infrastructure "LEAKED". Performance and energy consumption were the main selection terms. As a result, "LEAKED" stopped the choice on IBM POWER7 systems.

The IBM Power 780 and IBM Power 770 servers became a basis of the PROCEEDED server platform. The project was implemented by forces of specialists of PROTEKA together with IBM, the Croc company acted as equipment supplier. Within project implementation "LEAKED" signed with IBM the expanded service contract guaranteeing technical support 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

For the first three quarters 2010 of IBM performed about 800 migrations from the competing systems on the IBM Power Systems systems. For the last four years of nearly 3000 companies passed from the competing systems to the IBM Power Systems systems.

The IBM Power Systems systems are developed for management of the most exacting modern applications. IBM Power Systems is used by a number of unique technologies in the industry for specific requirements of the latest applications and services connected with processing of enormous data arrays and huge number in parallel of the executed transactions in the simultaneous analysis of this information in real time. Besides, IBM Power Systems allow clients to operate existing applications at smaller costs thanks to the advanced means of virtualization, energy-saving technologies, more cost-efficient use of memory and the improved ratio "price performance".
