Chernobyl NPP

Customers: Chernobyl NPP

Power

Contractors: IBS
Product: Project integration (Project management)

Project date: 2007/04

The IBS company, together with "The Chernobyl center for problems of nuclear security, radioactive waste and radio ecology" (Ukraine), completed the project on creation of an information system "The integrated database of an object Shelter for Chernobyl NPP.

The information system performs information support of the persons responsible for security on Chernobyl NPP and also provides decision support about further measures for recovery from the accident of the fourth power unit of nuclear power plant and implementation of the international program for object conversion Shelter in ecologically safe system.

IBDU integrates data of several information systems used on the CNPP in uniform information bank and provides convenient access to it. It allows to operate more effectively an object Shelter and to control its status and also provides coordinated actions of divisions responsible for nuclear, radiation, common industrial and fire safety on the NPP.

According to Valery Nikitin, the Director of the department of the integration solutions IBS, the implemented project "it is absolutely unique in terms of complexity, scale, as well as the international and social value".

The information system includes blocks on management of electronic archive (collecting and storage of unstructured information on an object for more than 20 years); to data processing (reports and reference information, management of accounts and access rights); to support of planning, monitoring and project management; to support of safe execution of works (registration and accounting of personnel and contractors, tracking of admissions, information on certification, radiation, physical examinations, accounting of premises, plans of evacuation, simulation modeling of processes and events); to interaction with information automated system of control of radiation (the analysis and visual providing operational data on dosimetry).

Within the project design, development and deployment of a system, user training and system administrators is performed.

Integration with the information systems which are available at the Chernobyl NPP is provided by replication of data in the single database. The software platform of the solution is made by products of Microsoft and Oracle for control of servers and databases. In composition the solution for simulation modeling of Rockwell Arena, the GIS system ESRI ArcGIS and some other solutions are used.

The project was implemented within two and a half years. In the course of work IBS performed head project management, managing dispersed teams of contractors which worked in Moscow, Kiev and the Slavutich. In addition to five main commands the set of additional resources was attracted. In March, 2007 a system is transferred to commercial operation.

According to developers, in the project the innovative technologies are applied and solutions which can be replicated and be applied also on other NPPs are created.
